| The covers around the world |
I just cleaned up my bookshelf, then I found one of my novel collection; Anna Karenina written by Leo Tolstoy, a Russian author. Anna Karenina is one of the great masterpieces in world literature due to its great ideological and artistic value that caused a great repercussion in Russia when it published around two hundred years ago.
When
in college, I had ever made a short Anna Karenina essay for one of my assignment. Even though
this novel has so many pages, I enjoyed reading it. Below are some favorite
quotes from the novel based on my point of view. Come on read ;D
- "All the girls in the world were divided into two classes: one class included all the girls in the world except her, and they had all the usual human feelings and were very ordinary girls; while the other class -- herself alone -- had no weaknesses and was superior to all humanity."
- "They ought to find out how to vaccinate for love, like smallpox."
- "The most fundamental idea, the idea of existence, has not been received by me through sensation; indeed, there is no special sense-organ for the transmission of such an idea."
- "All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
- "I think ... if it is true that there are as many minds as there are heads, then there are as many kinds of love as there are hearts."
- "All the variety, all the charm, all the beauty of life is made up of light and shadow."
I know, I just have a very few quotes from the novel,
but those are giving such a simple contemplation of life for me at least..
